The fashion world grows braver and bolder every year, which has luckily produced exotic outfits, trendy jewelry and a clash of colors that took the fashionistas of the world on a thrilling and sometimes uncertain ride. But even so, there are certain fashion trends that have stuck, as well as a few particular taboos.
Every year the fashion industry breaks a former taboo from last year’s line up, but these two have remarkably stayed true over time.
- One is silver and the other’s gold — just don’t mix them together. Your favorite trendy earrings or necklace could come in an array of materials, but if you are slipping on trendy jewelry that is gold, you should not accompany it with a piece of silver jewelry. While it is now acceptable to wear brown with blue and a few other fashion rules have changed over time, this one still seems to be in practice. It just appears sloppy if you pair silver earrings with a gold necklace — it looks like you just threw on whatever fell out of your jewelry box! Luckily, this is fairly easy to follow.
- Don’t cross styles too drastically. About the only ones who can get away with crossing different styles of clothes and jewelry all in the same day is hipster chicks. Mixing vintage with retro and modern elements is a thing, yes, but that doesn’t mean all mixes are created equal. If you are in professional garb or just walking around town in your casual-but-cute outfit, clashing styles will only distract from what you have going on. Unless the style mixing is a core part of your day’s look (like the hipster chick), stick to same themes and styles when you accessorize.
